The Drought and Household Food Security assessment for 2014/15 was undertaken from 23 March to 10 April 2015. This exercise is conducted annually to complement early-warning reports compiled on a routine basis by the various Government Departments and Ministries.
The assessment verified and reconciled existing information at the national level with district-level information, and also provided a forum to generate discussions with the districts on issues of drought and drought management resulting in reinforcement of the already established processes of consultation and decentralized planning.
The purpose of this report is to present findings and recommendations of the exercise in order to determine the need for government interventions particularly taking into account the prevailing agricultural situation and levels of vulnerability.
