The Evaluation of Vulnerability to the Risks of Flooding in the Union of the Comoros is a document that:
- is centred on an analysis of the flood risk, taking into account the probability of occurrence, the kinetics and the severity of the potential impacts according to a methodology which it explains;
- maps areas at high risk of flooding;
- specifies the risks to which the flood hazard may expose human life, health, the environment, agriculture and the socio-economic challenges of Comoros in the event of an occurrence, directly or indirectly, whether the cause is natural or anthropogenic;
- assesses the vulnerability of communities to flooding episodes on each island;
- defines and justifies the measures likely to reduce the vulnerability to floods and if possible the probability of occurrence.
The objective of this study is to assess the vulnerability of communities affected by the floods in the Union of the Comoros.
