This national disaster management policy framework for Zambia is intended to help the disaster management regime to assume and play a coordinating and implementation role before, during and after disaster outbreaks.
This role involves encouraging government departments, non-governmental agencies, local communities and other stakeholders to be active partners in initiating and carrying out activities focused on reducing the impact of hazards and routinely incorporate hazards awareness as they promote various developmental activities and the livelihood strategies.
