The extent to which prevention, coping and adaptation differ from country to country is illustrated by this World Risk Report. With the World Risk Index, it provides an analysis of disaster risks worldwide and indicates which countries are in the greatest need to strengthen measures for coping with and adapting to extreme natural events.
With this year’s focus on water supply, the World Risk Report again highlights a key issue in the context of disasters from both a practical and a scientific perspective. The focus on legal issues strengthens the political advocacy component of the World Risk Report and is intended to particularly support civil society actors in demanding their rights and those of their communities.
