Cyclone

On April 24, 2019, the Union of Comoros was hit hard by Cyclone Kenneth, which affected 345,131 people, including more than 185,000, very severely.

The INFORM initiative began in 2012 as a convergence of interests of UN agencies, donors, NGOs and research institutions to establish a common evidence-base for global humanitarian risk analysis.

The UNDP Comoros office through the project “Integration of disaster risk reduction into policies to reduce poverty in the Union of the Comoros” intends to contribute in the development of a mapping of volcanic and seismic hazards, cyclonic, landslides, and floods on all three islands (Grande Comore, Anjouan and Mohéli).
